Your pre-loved children’s books could change a child’s life

Try living out of a backpack for 30 hours. It sounds incredulous, but that is the reality for millions of displaced children worldwide living in poverty and vulnerable conditions due to conflict and natural disasters. World Vision Singapore’s Famine Camp Backpack Challenge lets you experience what it is like to subsist on nothing but the possessions on your back. To better understand the challenges they face daily, you will undergo a 30-hour fast in solidarity with those who have to go without food, water and shelter for much longer than 30 hours.
What else can you do to make a difference? Form a team with your friends and complete a series of humanitarian tasks, Amazing Race-style. As you move from station to station, learn more about the refugees and their struggles as their stories unfold. Finally, end your experience by being part of an advocacy effort.
To support this initiative, GoGuru and Times bookstores are participating as one of the stations in the race, and are coming together to hold a book donation drive. For every donation of pre-loved children’s books, you’ll receive vouchers from GoGuru and Times bookstores worth $2 as a token of appreciation. More details below:
Date: 17 to 31 May 2018
Time: 10am to 10pm daily
Location: Times Waterway Point and Tampines 1
Vouchers are valid until 31 May 2018, and are limited to the first 5,000 donations throughout the entire duration of the book donation drive.
GoGuru and Times bookstores are proud to be supporting partners of World Vision Singapore. Find out more about the 30 Hour Famine Camp here.
